Kids and Money

Here is a quick post on cheap things to do with you kids this summer…especially if you keep hearing “I’m bored, there is nothing to do”.

Let’s Go Kids – Host a family fun meeting, brainstorm things to do or places to go, get the entire family involved in coming up with ideas on how to pay for it, think: change around the house, yard-sale, recycling, dog walking, car wash, coupons, eating in, etc. Then grab a jar and put a photo of where you want to go or what you want to do and put the money raised in the jar – I bet you could come up with the money in one week!

Giving Kids  – Have your kids and their friends choose a charity, then pick an activity that will help the cause – think: pet shelters need blankets, homeless shelters need shoes, food banks need food, soldiers need care packages or letters, elderly need attention and so on – Not only will this give your kids something to do it will get them out of their own head and into the hearts of others.

Tech Savvy Kids – Scope out your local computer store for free workshops – think: Apple, Microsoft and other computer stores

DIY Kids  – Check with Home Depot, Lows and other DIY stores for free workshops

Crafty Kids – Craft stores like Michael’s offer free and low cost craft classes

Outdoor Kids – Find out if your local REI or other outdoor stores offer no cost clinics on various outdoor activities

Enjoy the savings!!!

If you have an idea we would love to hear it!!!
